When my little boy is 4 years old. I hope he is like Cooper!
Cooper has excellent listening skills and followed instructions very well; He has a grin that you can’t help yourself but join in on; and, if that doesn’t ice your cake, his use of the word “yes” instead of “Yeah” will!
Such great manners!

We were almost done when he suddenly decided I needed a little wink. He was right! I totally needed that! And he totally just made my day today!

Ms Ruby was an excellent little model. A great little poser! We had the space heater going, and she just enjoyed being warm and cozy. This little peacock feather hat was made by Sunday Yarn on etsy; I absolutely love the uniqueness of this hat and this yarn!

She awoke just before our sock monkey images, and for a while was just content to be awake and enjoy the awesomeness of this adorable hat from Beanie Bird by Robin.

Joe’s Girls~ competition

I participate in the State, Regional, and National print competitions. I’ve had a vision for a particular image for a few years now and since the State competition is not until September, I won’t be sharing those images. But these two lovely ladies came in to model for me, so I had to do a few of them together too.

Ms. Em is just a hoot! I love the new trick she learned!

JoyfulNoise~ Spring2013

It’s here! The new set for this year’s JoyfulNoise kiddos at FBC Newcastle’s Parent’s Day Out is designed and ready for March 28th!
I decided to go simple this year. There is a plant for the background, and yellow chair and green stool, another floral arrangement can be slid in, as well as a pretty burlap yellow flower for the girls. But I wanted a Spring arrangement that didn’t feminize the set with lots of flowers, and didn’t look too seasonal while they are displayed in your home

So…. Grey and White Chevron with pops of yellow and green is the final decision.
I hope you enjoy it! And, as always, if you have a child at Joyful Noise and wish to make a suggestion, please do so! I’m always up for hearing your feedback and will try to accommodate any requests.
Picture day this year will be 3 days before Easter Sunday. So if you’d like your child in their Easter attire talk to his/her teacher, most of them will gladly help the child change clothes back into regularly weekly attire afterwards (or into the portrait attire prior to).

For your clothing attire, I recommend solid colors. Busy and distracting prints will take away from your child becoming the main focus of the image. I small stripe or thin plaid, as well as very small prints will work, but I will almost always recommend the solid color.

This sweet boy was very content to just be awake for a while.

He had just completed a good meal as I walked in the door, so he enjoyed letting his food settle while I set up my little traveling studio. So by the time I was set up and ready to start our session he was ready for a little nap.

He really did a wonderful job!
I’ll be photographing his sweet family again next week with his parents too. And you can see their maternity session here.

Looking forward to many more sessions with this gorgeous growing family!

Little Haddie is going to be a big Sister in a little over a month!

I just love this family. They make me laugh and really enjoy my career.
Haddie is so inquisitive and curious, and for a 20 month old is really learning how to listen and follow instructions. Such a good sweet girl!

I greatly enjoy Newborn portraits! There’s just something about them that gets my awestruck creative juices flowing.

Little JD did wonderfully. He was alert when they first arrived, so his big brother joined the fun for a few images, he got a nice meal, and then snuggled down to sleep.

At 3 weeks I wasn’t sure if he’d prop up on his hands for the requested image. It’s typically a pose I only recommend for baby’s about 10 days or less. At the early stage in life baby’s curl up easier, sleep more soundly and bundle up tighter. After several weeks of stretching room outside the womb, most of them get used to the extra leg space and don’t really want to give it up too much
But even at this pose, JD did very well, He didn’t really care for both arms and fists under his chin, but stayed asleep for the head propped on one fist. So even at this, he was a rockstar.

Congratulations on your new little one! I look forward to many more years of fun with your growing family!

For the past 12 years we’ve had many duplicating dates and/or easy to remember ones. I remember hoping my daughter would be born on 8/8/08, but she came a few days earlier. We just had our last one for the next 89 years last month. And if you’re a fan of the Photography by Elise fanpage on Facebook you may have seen the post I made requesting fans to post a picture of what they were doing on that final memorable day. I made it into a contest, hoping a few freebies would entice my fans to play along. I only received one.
One image was posted showing me all the fun she had that memorable day.
Danielle had all kinds of crafting fun! (personal info has been blurred)

I, on the otherhand, spent this memorable day cuddling my little girl and running a few quick errands. I kept her home from her preschool class that day due to her congestion. No fever, and she didn’t look contagious, but when it comes to this kind of stuff I usually tend to err on the side of caution… i think “would I want Anna to be playing closely with a kid who looked like she does?” Contagious or not, she didn’t look well, so I kept her home. Memorable 12/12/12, huh?
And in some ways it will be! This was the first time in probably a year that she had slept during the day! She must have needed that!

For the next several decades we’ll see a few fun dates (We already had a 1/3/13 and there will be an 11/12/13) but no more same MM/DD/YY in my lifetime {I don’t plan to live to be 120 years old!} Though my children may grow to see a few of them.
